A is for Apple

Gray started 3rd grade (yikes! growing so fast!) this past week and is loving it! He was excited to make something nice for his teacher and wanted to use the color red since it's her favorite. There's nothing like an apple for a teacher so he made her this adorable card using a real apple for a stamp.

Step 1: Cut apples in 1/2 making sure the halves are flat so you get an even print. Straight cutting is not my strong suit so our apple prints have a little extra "personality". I also like to cut little notches in the sides to make a handle.

Step 2: Dip in paint and stamp away! *This would be super cute on a t-shirt or canvas bag using fabric paint.
Step 3: Once dry add a stem and a leaf. This helps make the image a little more obvious. Sometimes the apples just look like red, yellow, or green balls instead of the tasty fruit they are. *Ash did this project with us and loved it! However, he's 2 1/2 and it's all process at this stage not product so his is more of an abstract painting.

  2. So cute! I love the little notch handles you cut...

You should do a blog post about the clippy picture frames I see here... I'm intrigued. :)
